We had the pleasure of working with Hannah and David to create their sophisticated save the dates. This job was extra special because the bride is the daughter of our dear friend Susie of First Impression. The style is minimalist with subtle yet intentional design and plenty of personal details that reflect the couple and their love story. Hannah and David chose our Frances save the date as their inspiration, and we cannot wait to share it with you.

Vellum Overlay
digital ink: cmyk
fonts: branch + quiverleaf
paper: 40# vellum
size: sq-5 overlay
finishing: 0.25” hole drill + assemble with save the date
job: 75753
The composition is centered and balanced, creating a sense of calm. The design is letterpress-printed into our thick 2-ply cotton paper. The paper has a decadent texture, and the impression of the printing pressed into the thick stock adds even more of a tactile element, resulting in a luxurious card. Chambray letterpress ink is elegantly understated. The thin line border contrasts with the bold font, creating a soft yet sculptural look. Utilizing a perpendicular orientation of the couple’s names within the border introduces an unexpected, contemporary element.
A lovely candid photo of the couple, digitally printed on vellum, is secured to the card with a silver grommet. The photo of the smiling couple is delightful and the first thing guests see when they take the save-the-date out of the envelope. Since the overlay is made of vellum, the text on the card is partially visible through the photo, so guests receive a sneak peek.
A highly personal detail that showcases the couple’s fun personalities is the custom envelope liner. An image of the couple’s beloved dog greets recipients after they slip the card from the envelope. The adorable pup appears over a map, adding even more personal detail to the design.
It is always a joy to work with Susie of First Impression and bring this vision to life. Check back later this week to see the invitations and day of pieces for Hannah and David’s big day.
The soft, romantic style of these bridal tea invitations is elevated by hand calligraphy and a vellum overlay. We worked with our dear friend Allison from Salutations Home to create these darling invitations for a tea honoring bride-to-be, Claire.
Hand calligraphy is a time-honored tradition that is always unique. This invitation features Rook hand calligraphy by Nicole Black. The understated hand is stylish and discerning and pairs beautifully with the delicate serif font.
The invitation is printed on our Smooth Cotton 2-ply in white for a thick, pillowy texture. All but a thick border surrounding the edges is printed in a flood of our sand letterpress, with all of the text, including the hand calligraphy, appearing in black letterpress. The flood of letterpress printing creates the look of a color paper, while maintaining the sense of generous empty space and reinforcing a neutral, organic feel.

The botanical artwork of the overlay softens the formality and introduces a natural, garden-inspired touch. The overlay is held in place over the invitation with metallic gold thread for a touch of shimmer.
Overall, this style would be best described as classic romantic with botanical elegance. The look is perfect for a bridal tea, garden weddings, or any event aiming for a graceful quietly luxurious tone. Do you want to include hand calligraphy in your design? Or would a vellum overlay provide that extra something to elevate the look you want? Work with one of our dealers to create the perfect invitations for your event.
Alexandra and Patrick worked with our dear friends at Proper Notice to create their sophisticated letterpress invitations. This custom design is luxurious and stylish, and includes a lovely vellum overlay.
The elegant invitations are timeless. The traditional layout features the bride and groom’s names along with the venue in a flowing script font. Black letterpress lends the design a traditional and formal feel, while the 2-ply stock holds a deep and crisp impression.

The bride and groom’s initials appear in the same font on the vellum overlay. Custom floral artwork also adorns the overlay. The flower sprigs are repeated to create a completely unique pattern. The same pattern is replicated on the envelope liner. Floral accents on the details and reception cards add some whimsy and consistency across the invitation suite.

Nicole and Sean worked with our friends at Papermade Studio to create their beautifully vibrant wedding invitations. Our Loley florals feature throughout the suite. Bright persimmon and fuchsia letterpress inks set the perfect tone for a joyous summer wedding. The suite also features a digital photo overlay, tied with our metallic copper thread.
We worked with our friends at Arabesque of Naples to create these fun welcome fiesta invitations. We matched the design and layout to our Parrish rehearsal dinner card. We kept the copper matte foil stamping, on both the card and overlay, for a crisp modern invite.
Vellum is a unique, semi- translucent paper and is compatible with digital printing and foil stamping. We can score this paper, as well – making it an option for belly bands, overlays, and more.
We can use vellum to create tall or standard height belly bands as seen on our Duval and Ichabod suites
Our Ninette v.2 celebration invitation features a digitally printed gatefold wrap
Vellum can also be used to create overlays- our Ines save the date and Harro details cards feature grommeted overlays
Overlays can alternatively be tied on with ribbon, or metallic thread, like in our Valley suite
Write on Sarasota helped us bring these tawny foil save the dates with a vellum overlay to life. The couple married at the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Florida this past May. A venue surrounded by palm trees and Floridian flair. Their tawny foil save the dates matched the vibe of their venue with palms placed throughout. A small foil palm tree motif kept the save the date clean yet still appropriate. The vellum overlay added design interest giving a peek inside to the save the date. With the gold grommet at the top, this save the date became interactive for the guest receiving it. They opted for our Capri digital ink on the vellum overlay which added a pop of tropical color to the Tawny foil. Finally, the envelope liner also features a similar palm pattern in Capri as a nod to the vellum overlay.
